Who is funding you?

Anyone who has fallen or been kicked off the mainstream economy knows this to be true: no one is economically independent.

Most, if not all of us, are interdependent and rely on others throughout our entire lifespans. Here’s a basic summary of how most of us are funded at this moment in time:  

  1. If you have a regular job, you’re funded by your employer-- who is solely dependent on customers, consumers, markets, social, and environmental conditions. 

  2. If you’re self-employed you’re funded by customers or clients.

  3. If you work for the government, you’re funded by taxpayers and corporations.

  4. If you’re unable to work, you’re funded by both the excess of economic activities (economic safety nets) and by your community --- kind people, caregivers, etc.

  5. If you’re married, you’re partially or fully funded by your spouse (note: you can also work a regular job and be self-employed but based on law, marriage binds partners economically).

  6. If you're a minor, you're funded by your parents and or other service or work.

  7. If you’re a millionaire or billionaire, you’re funded by policy, savings from poor investors, monies from rich investors, tax breaks, and all of the above (e.g. consumers)

  8. If you’re old(er), you’re funded by whatever resources you may have accumulated or saved – anything that has not been extracted, misused, or stolen along the way, as well as by community and economic safety nets.


To contribute to society is a healthy human desire and God-given dignity. Are there less cumbersome and anxiety-reducing ways to fund/support individuals in society so they can have proper food and safe shelter? Yes. Wise teachers and elders tell us that this will naturally occur as more of us re-gain access to our emotional intelligence – when our soul senses come back online. A flourishing planet, enlightened industry/commerce, and a thriving economy go hand-in-hand-in-hand. But ultimately it is God/Source and the gorgeous planet we live on who support and fund all of us.💜

Most children don't hesitate expressing who they are and what they love. My sister's granddaughter is a perfect example.  She's eight-years old and is authentically intelligent, funny, thoughtful, and charismatic. She doesn't try to be this way, or apologize for expressing her essence. She is truly her own little person. She is smart and sassy --- a tiny package of multi-dimensional goodness the world has yet to tell her is "too much" or too bright.  And, hopefully that day will never come.  There's so many of us remembering and honoring our unique intelligence and gifts. The soft-skills I didn’t think I needed (but I was wrong)

Depending on your elemental nature (ei: your natal chart aspects/human design), you may or may not have good soft-skills. In particular, those of us with strong air or earth aspects are not as attuned to emotional intelligence -- the “feeling” stuff.   And so, I had to learn it and then teach it, and then re-learn it deeper and then teach it again….and now I’m writing about it, so that I can learn some more.  It took me about 30 years to realize that what we used to consider soft-skills  is simply social-emotional intelligence.   I’ve come to understand this too: emotional literacy and self-awareness  are not trivial or unimportant— they are self-mastery skills. Your mind is energy. Your body is energy. Your nervous system and its ability to pick up and decipher social-emotional information from self and others? Energetic self-mastery my friend. After my daughter's passing in 2018 life as I knew it ended. Period. And yet, as the days and weeks moved through me, new life, insights, and remembrances became a daily occurrence.  My body, nervous system, and brain were completely rewired-- updated somehow. Though I've always journaled, I had never written poems or even thought in poetic ways. My thinking and writing were normally mechanical, procedural, perhaps lifeless. And yet I suddenly found myself thinking and speaking in poetic ways. As a former academic and critical and 'serious thinker', the notion of writing soulful things felt ridiculous, even embarrassing. When I sent my draft of Until it happens to you to some of my colleagues, I was prepared for my fears to be validated.
