Relational intelligence

Lately I’ve been contemplating my work. Specifically what, if anything, I intend to leave as a gift and thank you to Life/God, an offering to Mother Earth, and a legacy for my daughter and family.

These are not things we can even imagine or ponder when we’re in our 20’s, 30’s, or 40’s—when careers and children take center stage in our lives and hearts. But it does begin to creep in after age 55 and takes full-center center-stage in our 6th decade of life. I’m at this stage and in many ways, I’m surprised that I am.

My friend Crystal and I recently joked about the fact that I’m a terrible story teller. As someone with deep Capricorn and Aquarius placements, and a Virgo rising, I’m more so a radical truth-teller, a pointer of details, and no-nonsense deliverer of facts (lol). And yet, if life has taught me anything it is that the details and facts are actually pointing to something even deeper and richer, something beautiful, sacred, and sublime.

Relational intelligence is my term for this. It’s not just my understanding of systems (systems theory), but also the divine intelligence and loving web that holds it all. It’s my humble realization that life is truly an energetic symphony at different scales and whether conscious of it or not, or whether I’m good at it or not, I’m in this relational dance, nonetheless.

While survival fears and traumas guided my early life and choices, in this 6th decade of my life, I’m choosing to be in conscious partnership with life and with what I love. My sense is that this would be impossible if it were not for all the challenges and plot-twists, the countless ego-deaths and the real ones that enabled me to travel through the underworld on this life-road of mine. And I am so grateful for it all.

If you have time this week and want to explore some of my work there are several free digital books on my website mayraporrata.com and also at solarapublishing.com. And onward with great love we shall go.
